Diwali 2025 Celebration: Today, on 20 October 2025, the festival of Diwali is being celebrated with pomp across the country. According to religious beliefs, on the day of Kartik Amavasya, Lord Ram, Mother Sita, and Lakshman returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. To welcome him, the people of Ayodhya celebrated by lighting lamps, due to which the tradition of lighting lamps on Diwali started. Mother Lakshmi is mainly worshiped on this day; hence, it is also known as Lakshmi Puja. Also, Lord Ganesha is also worshiped so that obstacles in work are removed.

Diwali puja method

  • Preparation: Place a stool in the east or northeast corner, spread red or pink cloth on it, and prepare the puja materials.
  • Idol installation: Place the idol of Lord Ganesha first, then install the idol of Goddess Lakshmi on its right side.
  • Start the puja: Sit on the seat, sprinkle water all around, take a resolution, and start the puja by lighting the lamp.

Pooja Process:

  • Offer flowers and sweets to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi.
  • First chant the Ganesh mantra, then the Lakshmi mantra.
  • Perform aarti and blow conch so that positive energy circulates in the house.
  • Lighting the lamp: Light a lamp at home, near the well, and in the temple.
  • Clothing: Wear red, yellow, or bright-colored clothes; avoid black, brown, or blue.

Importance of Diwali

Diwali is celebrated to celebrate the return of Lord Ram, Mother Sita, and Lakshman to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. He was given a grand welcome by decorating Ayodhya with lamps and illuminating the streets, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.
